[comp.sys.mac.comm] Stability of BroadCast 1.2 ?

chma@iceman.jcu.oz (Michael Antolovich) (07/12/90)

 Hi there,
Well I just got a hold of Broadcast 1.2. Before I set it up
on every machine here I would like to know how stable it is. I seem to
remember a few months back, stories about Macs hanging in the middle of VERY
important documents when a BroadCast message was recieved. Is this (still)
true ? Come to think of it, is Public Folder 1.0 OK ? I only remember
problems with configuration, have there been any major crashes associated with
this ?
					Thanks,
					Michael

The lab where I work has used both Broadcast and Public folder with Waterloo
MacJanet. We haven't had any problems, and Public Folder has turned out to be a
real time-saver. If you want a "messaging" type utility that is more functional
than Broadcast, try NetChat. You can find it on America Online. Netchat is also
a DA, so it's more convenient than Broadcast.

Is available a IBM/MS-DOS version of BroadCast?
We have IBM and MAC connected with TOPS via appletalk and we're looking
for the MS DOS version of broadcast (if any!)

Please e-mail, because I dont subscribe.

Thank you.
