Is there an uncompress for the Mac around? I need to compress on Unix and then uncompress on a mac. As a side note, is x/y/zmodem faster than kermit for file transfers? If so, are these available for the unix side? Thanks "And I must add to my list. After I have had my revenge upon the Lord of Bats, Benoni, Smage, Quazer and Blite, I will deal with the Baron and see that the Colonel Who Never Died has cause to change his name." -Roger Zelazny "Jack of Shadows" rlwald@phoenix.princeton.edu

If so, are these available > for the unix side? There is an app named MacCompress (the latest on my board is v3.2) that does a very nice job of compressing/decompressing files and/or folders. And, yes, x/y/zmodem (especially zmodem) is(are) faster than kermit for file transfers. The author of Zmodem, Chuck Forsberg (sp?), supports public domain Zmodem (et al) send/receive programs (C sources, Makefile) for Unix (BSD, SysV), VMS, Xenix, etc. Its name is "rzsz" (for -r-eceive zmodem and -s-end zmodem). The latest version of rzsz is dated February 1990 and includes v3.07 of sz. Both the above are on GEnie, eventually on Sumex, currently available on MacScience BBS (see sig), and many other places. Hope that helps.
