[comp.sys.mac.comm] UnixBox->EtherNet->MacSE->Router->LocalTalk->Laserwriter

kevin@gtisqr (Kevin Bagley) (07/26/90)

Hi.

 I need to get some detailed answers to some questions regarding
 networking ASAP. Any and all help would be appreciated. Email and
 if there is enough response, I will summarize.

 Our network will consist mostly of 386 Unix Boxes connected via ethernet
 with 1 MacSE and a Laserwriter connected via LocalTalk. The Mac SE will
 have a SCSI ethernet and a software router and will be running MultiFinder.

 1) What is the method for printing on the Laserwriter from one of
    386 UNIX boxes?

 2) Will printing from the net on the Laserwriter interfere with someone
    using the Mac?

 3) What software do we need? Approximate Cost? Where is it available?

 4) What other Mac software would you reccommend for better network access?
