[comp.sys.mac.comm] HELP - Appletlk vs Printer Port vs Modem

jkain@silver.ucs.indiana.edu (Jeffrey Kain) (08/27/90)

I'm having quite a problem when I try to use my modem attached to the
printer port.

Here's my setup:
MacPlus
2400 baud modem
HP Deskjet+ printer

I want to connect the printer to the modem port so that I may use
Appletalk (yes - it has to be done this way - Freedom of Press), which
means the modem has to be connected to the printer port. Everything
on the printer connection works fine, but when I use my communications
program (Microphone 1.5) and select the printer port as the port
of choice I get an error message "Cannot open serial port - Error
occurred at point 100." If I try to send any commands to the modem,
I get the message "OS Error -28 occurred at point 800." The Microphone
manual does not include any info on the error codes or point codes.

Can anybody help me? Please e-mail your suggestions directly to me
at jkain@silver.ucs.indiana.edu

Thanks in advance,

Jeff Kain
