Just a note to see if this subnet is alive. After three whole weeks on a new UN*X machine (following 18 months away from one) I haven't seen much activity here. At least I can periodically indulge in my railroad sub-hobby on this net again. By the way, the name is Chris, at HP Loveland Instrument Division, fortunate enough to live just 40 miles from the U-P Steam stables at Cheyenne, Wyo, home of the 8444 and the 3985! - Chris

Between about March and the end of August this notes-file was REALLY hopping -- new and interesting notes and responses were showing up on a daily basis. But since the end of August, things have dried up a bit. I put up a note entitled "Calling All Railfans ..." about 2 weeks ago, in order to stir up interest once again, but to little avail. Do make your interests/areas of knowledgeability known. This notes file just might become a fun place to be again. I am first and foremost a subway/trolley nut, and only found my way into the wider world of Railfandom later on. Hope to hear more from you. -- Ben Krepp (inmet!benk)
