Greetings Wise People of the Net-- Keywords: Network, Shiva NetBridge, Modem, Automatic dialing. Once again I have a problem. We are trying to set up a large set of e-mail sites across the country using TOPS (Sitka) Inbox. This also includes Routers to automagically ship messages to different message centers at specified intervals over any form of connection including dial-up through a NetBridge and modem. The "Inbox" way to make the modem connection is manually when the router will try to communicate with the other message center. ** Or use CE's QuickKeys to set a time for the macro to dial the other site. The problem: a macro to open the control panel and do the connect is not so bad, but we cannot disconnect automatically. The NetBridges communicate about every 10 seconds without traffic, and the auomatic time-out (on inactivity) can only go as low 30 seconds. So now what? We are trying to get Inbox to admit a problem, but it is tough. There seems to be no way to check for inactivity and the disconnect, and no way to tie the dialing to the Router application directly. (It has been mentioned that Unix would have no problem, but we are already into big bucks putting Macs, NetBridges, modems, and software in all these tiny offices...) Reply with any ideas or questions any way you can... David V. Baker Intermetrics, Inc. dvb@inmet.inmet.com (617) 661-1840 (x4644)
