[comp.sys.mac.comm] New Hayes Modem

Hello,

Has anyone seen the new Hayes 2400plus modem that was shown in Byte
Magazine's new products section a couple of months ago? None of the big
mail-order houses have it. It's about the size of an AC adaptor and
comes with Smartcom software. It's priced at about $200! (Hayes'
cheapest to date, I believe.)

Thanks,
Scott Laing

Well, I can tell you that I have the 2400 badubud modem that came with
the Prodigy Startup kit. I bought the kit for the modedm. The whole package was
$140. Haven't even opened the Prodigy thing. Vbought this back in Feb.
I think the plus you are talikng about is something about supporting MNP?
Mine is the size of an AC adaptor and it really handy for transportability.
However lacks fulkl AT command set. (Tried an AT\s, modem settings, and got
an aerror msg). Anyways, I like enough. Althoug h it doesn't rellally
have any lights except for power and whtherether or not there is any tra
ffic. Check out what the moeddem supports before considering buying,.
MNP5 woudlld be nice.
