Help! I have a number of MacPaint files I need to upload to UNIX so I can work with them there. On the Mac side I can convert MacPaint to TIFF and PICT files, if I really need to. On the UNIX side I have access to a slew of utilities for converting from one format to another, in particular I can convert MacPaint to a format I can use. What I CAN'T seem to do is transfer the MacPaint files to UNIX. I can binhex the files and send them as text, but I have nothing on the UNIX side to unbinhex them. My preferred terminal program, QuickLink, will only see the paint files if I have 'MacBinary' checked. Unfortunately, the UNIX command 'xmodem -rb' chokes on MacBinary. Other terminal programs (RedRyder 9.2, MacWarehouse's brain-damaged version of MacKnowledge, MacTerminal 2.2) seem even less effective. I just downloaded UMCP-Tools from sumex-aim, in an attempt to uuencode the files on the Mac side (and uudecode them on the UNIX side). But UMCP-Tools can't see the picture files! It can see text files and applications, but it won't see MacPaint, TIFF, or PICT files (under any of its options). Surely somebody knows how to do this!?! What vital piece of software (or knowledge) am I missing? If you have any suggestions, please email them to me, unless you think they are of general interest. a T d H v A a N n K c S e -- Dave Matuszek (dave@prc.unisys.com) -- Unisys Corp. / Paoli Research Center / PO Box 517 / Paoli PA 19301 -- Standard disclaimer: Any resemblance between my opinions and those of my employer is strictly coincidental.
