[net.railroad] Ma&Pa

goutal@decvax.UUCP (Kenneth G. "Kenn" Goutal) (11/05/84)

When I took the Cape Cod and Hyannis RR train to the Cape this summer,
I noticed a lot of track-improvement work going on along the way.
In particular, I noticed that wherever this was going on,
there would be a gondola full of ballast parked near by,
with the logo "The Great Ma & Pa".
What rr is this? Thumbnail history, current status?
Can someone point me to information on modeling this car
with said markings?

"The Great Ma & Pa" sounds like a prestidigitator, but is in fact
the Maryland and Pennsylvania RR., a remarkably long-lived short line.
