[net.railroad] AMTRAK

Does anybody out there in net.railroad land know how amtrak has fared
in the Oct 1 budget?  I have yet to heat what, if anything was cut or
added as I've let my subcription to PTJ slip and the papers haven't
seemed to mention it.

The last I heard about it, which was on C-SPAN last night, Congress was trying
to lop off 88 million from amtrak, claiming that no service would be affected
by it. As far as I know no service cutbacks are planned as a result of this
proposal.

Anybody have any idea what will happen to Amtrak if President
Reagan gets his way and cuts Federal Subsidy for it?

And what about Alaska Railroad??
