[comp.sys.mac.comm] CTB Tools

chor@wolf.cs.washington.edu (Anthony Chor) (10/26/90)

I was wondering if anyone has been working on YMODEM, ZMODEM, Kermit,
Minitel, and Prestel tools for the CTB. I'm working on a terminal
program and would like to acquire these from someplace else.

Thanks.

I do not have working X,Y or ZMODEM. But would love them if you
find them. Please post a summary.

In addition, could someone summarize the tools/terminal/protocols
that you can get for CTB.

Well, as best I can recall ...

Source Tool Type
=============   ==============  =================
Apple APDA Serial Connection
                Modem Connection
MacTCP Connection (Raw TCP only, no Telnet except
in some old Beta's. For MacX)

                VT102 Terminal (No Print Passthru!)
                VT320 (No Print Passthru!)
                TTY "

                XMODEM File Transfer
TEXT File Transfer (Works surprisingly well)

Digital All of above, plus:
LANWorks
                DECNet Tool Connection For MacX
                CTERM Tool Connection For MacTerminal
                AppleTalk/DECNt Connection For MacX
LAT Tool Connection For Macterminal. Great!

Advanced TCPack Connection Full TELNET, FTP Server
Concepts
(on AppleLink,
 French Co.)

InterConn TCP Tools Connection Not seen. Reputedly very
                                                good Full TELNET, TCP, etc.

That's all I know of. There's a KERMIT tool under development, mention
on Applelink. Hope this helps.

If anyone hears of a decent terminal tool with print passthru, please post
or mail! Sure would ease my users' minds.
