[net.railroad] CTC Board

< Can you give me more data on CTC Board? >

Well, sort of. I forgot to bring a copy with me, but this much I can tell
you. CTC Board is a western railroad oriented news magazine. Back in 1981,
when I first subscribed, the mag ran 16 pages of railroad news, covering
the UP, SP, WP, DRGW, BN, ATSF, and occasionally short lines. The mag
also ran articles on railfanning points of interest, interesting shortline
operations, etc. Then its size grew to 36, and now 48 pages with a few
well-done color photos. CTC Board now publishes monthly extensive news
reports on western roads, with 2 or 3 extensive feature articles. As
with most "smaller" magazines, CTC Board lives off contributions of photos,
news items, and whole articles. Last time I checked, CTC Board ran about
$2.50 an issue, though I'm not sure because my subscription runs until 1986!
To pick up an issue, try Berkeley Ace Hardware on University Ave, Berkeley,
one block west of Campus. However the magazine usually sells out 2 to 3 days
after delivery, so you either have to be lucky or fast ( Reader Cline had a
problem with this ). Anyway, your money will be well spent, as CTC Board
carries lots of in-depth news (like loco renumberings) with slick black
and white photos and beautiful color reproductions. Check it out!

PS: If I (or someone else) can ever remember to bring CTC's address, I will
so you can write them directly.
