I wanted to write and tell you all that due to the response I got from this kist that I have fixed the problem with Mac/gnuucp hanging while dialing with some modems. The solution seems to be to turn off hardware handshaking after opening the serial port. The fix is in version 3.5. We are preparing a new release soon, so for those that can wait, we'd appreciate it. For those that can't send me a note and I'll post you a private copy.
