Is anyone using the VMS printer symbionts that come with LanWORKS to print to non-DEC printers. I've noticed that the Scriptprinter symbiont does not work with the HP LaserJet III w/PS Cartridge (it sends an End-Of-Text character to the printer and expects a reply. The HP never replies and the queue eventually stalls.) From the LanWORKS documentation, there is supposed to be a symbiont that works with Apple LaserWriter's to allow VMS users to print to those printers as well as DEC LN03R's. Is this true? I'm assuming it will not be sending LW specific postscript headers and we will be able to use the HP as a replace- ment printer. Also, does it allow the number_up and lay_up parameters to be used or just a stright text to PS conversion. If you're using this particular feature of lanWORKS, I'd like to hear from you. -- michael ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Michael McGuffey, Director BITNET: mcguffey@marshall Office of Institutional Research Internet: mcguffey%muvms3@wvnvms.wvnet.edu Marshall University Phone: 304/696-3212 Huntington, WV 25755 FAX: 304/696-3601 -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
