I have a problem when running MacTCP v1.0. I start up an application such as NCSA Telnet and everything works OK initially (I am connected to an ethernet via a Kinetics box). After a (random) period of time the network connection hangs. I can exit from Telnet but when I look at the memory utilization I find that the system 'process' has grabbed all the available memory (4 Meg) and the machine crashes. A similar thing happens when running Eudora. After a while the program complains that it can't connect to the mail machine, asks if I want to keep trying and when I say no the system hangs. It therefore looks like it's a problem with my installation of the TCP software rather than the applications. I am running 6.0.5 and have tried rebuilding the system and TCP software but it still fails :-( I have removed all the non-essential inits and cdevs and the symptoms persist. It also fails on 6.0.7. Any help, comments would be appreciated. My apologies in advance if this problem has already been discussed on the net .... :-) -- Kevin Mitchell JANET: kevin@uk.ac.ed.lfcs LFCS, Dept. of Computer Science UUCP: ..!mcvax!ukc!lfcs!kevin University of Edinburgh ARPA: kevin%lfcs.ed.ac.uk@nsfnet-relay.ac.uk Edinburgh EH9 3JZ, UK. It fixes a segment size problem that may be causing this behavior. I would get it. pr -- Pete Resnick (...so what is a mojo, and why would one be rising?)
