[comp.sys.mac.comm] VersaTerm Pro

randy@tessa.iaf.uiowa.edu (randy frank) (08/29/90)

I've been using VersaTerm Pro as a T4105 emulator for quite some time
and really like it. However I have some problems with it (ver 3.1.1).

1)	The copy command (cmd-C) crashes the program under A/UX 2.0
2)	Once you have launched the program under A/UX 2.0 you cannot
launch any more Mac applications without logging out/in.
(ie you must launch Versaterm Pro last)
3)	It looses track of the current cursor shape fairly often
(usually to replace the pointer with the watch and forgets
	to change it back)
4)	In some instances it will dim the menus and not allow you
access to them unless you close the open window and then
reset your terminal emulation. (I have not figured out just
what causes this yet but I will some day.)
5)	This is the bigggest: It cannot use the MacTCP connection tool
to start an ethernet session as NSCA Telnet and MacX can.
(It complains: Connection came halfway up and was dropped??) I
would love to have its tek emulation running with ethernet.
(The NCSA Telnet tek emulation just does not cut it for me)

Note: items 3-5 occur either under A/UX 2.0 and MacOS. items
	1-2 are A/UX 2.0 only.

Don't let this sound like I hate the program because I LOVE it. I still
use it at least 4 hours/day. And many of the things I complained about
are very minor. I would like to see them fixed though!!! (Are you listening
Mr Abelbeck???)

I have VersaTerm Pro on my Mac IIcx. Works great. It has a VT220 emulator
that I use when I dial-in to UNIX machines. Now I can resize the emulator
window to any size. But I have been unable to come up with a termcap that
will make vi work with, for example say a 80X44 window.

Does anyone have a termcap that would support odd sized windows?
