Well, I received several replies about the problems I
was having using ZTerm to transfer files over a 19.2Kb
serial link using ZModem protocol. Here is a summary:
1) Make sure you have the latest version of the sz/rz
software running on your host. Piper Keairnes
(ar4@sage.cc.purdue.edu) noted that a recent version
(appears to be rz v3.01/ sz v3.03) is available
via anonymous ftp from the /pub directory at mace.cc.purdue.edu
(128.210.9.3).
2) Make sure that your link is 8 bits. Many UNIX hosts
seem to default to 7 bits, although this was not the
case in my situation.
3) If you are using *software flow control*, *DISBALE IT*.
This single action seems to have cleared up 90% of the
problems I was having. Use either no flow control at
all or hardware handshaking. Using no flow control,
I can now transfer most files at 19.2Kb with only 1 or
2 "GOT ZRPOS = 0" errors, which ZTerm manages to recover
from.
4) Use the "-b" option to rz (i.e., "rz -b") to indicate
that you want binary file transfers.
Again, getting the latest sz/rz and avoiding software flow
control seems to have cured most of the problems I was having.
