Are America Online and applelink the same system? Are there any gateways between either system and the rest of the world? BTW, a net.gateways newsgroup would make a fine addition to Usenet.

They share a commonality though. They were both given life by Apple. AppleLink continues to be devoted to Apple's needs, but America Online has become a seperate venture with no ties to Apple. What would be the focal point of a "net.gateways" newgroup? -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dave Newman | daven@svc.portal.com | AppleLink: D0025 Sofware Ventures Corp. | AOL: MicroPhone | CIS: 76004,2161 Berkeley, CA 94705 | WELL: tinman@well.sf.ca.us | (415) 644-3232

America Online (used to be personal AppleLink, or something like that) is a system for general public, while AppleLink is for special users like developers, etc. BTW, America Online is not run by Apple. > BTW, a net.gateways newsgroup would make a fine addition to Usenet. You can find an article with all the gateways from one of the news.newusers.* newsgroups. Jaakko
