I've just now downloaded all the updator files from sumex. So then, I now have all these files that seem to involve updating older versions (11.08 it would seem) to 11.10. However, I can't for the life of me figure out how to make it work. I've copied a fresh copy off my original WK disk (version 11.02). I have all kinds of patch files from the updators. So the question is, how do I make them work together? When I asked Freesoft they said "send us the original disk and we'll send you an updated copy". This'll take too long. Are there any suggestions regarding how to go about upgrading the copy I already have? | yakkity yak yak yak yakkity yak | zoetrop@ucscb.UCSC.EDU | | yakkity yak yak yak yak | 6 7 0 3 e . zayante | | yakkity yak yak yak yakkity | felton, ca 9 5 0 1 8 | | --- s t e v e m a r t i n --- | ( 408 ) 335 - 3331 | | -c r u e l s h o e s- | ( 408 ) 335 - 3918 |

Hopefully, there is a file on sumex containing "PUP Decryptor", which is used to decrypt(!) and install the updates. (Why couldn't they just use Installer like everyone else?! Yah, I know, scared of piracy. Hasn't stopped others from using Installer, though, as far as I know.) ++Brandon -- Me: Brandon S. In fact, I had used the PUP program to update my WK 11.01 to 11.06 several months ago. I'm having problems with the newest updater files that I've gotten from AOL and from the info-mac archives. I can successfully open the updater files with the PUP program, but I can't get the PUP program to allow me to select my White Knight application when it's asking for the file to update. It just never appears in the list of files to choose from. I only get folders and never any files in the open file dialog. Can anybody help me? Peter Espen pke@btr.com

The PUP Decryptor application needs to be work from a virgin copy of the binary WK application. An 11.08 --> 11.10 updater will take a virgin (never executed) copy of WK 11.08 and create a "virgin" copy of WK 11.10. The new WK 11.10 can then be copied to a master disk; it then becomes your new "master" copy. DO NOT RUN White Knight from an unlocked master disk (not even once!) or you will lose the ability to upgrade again. If there is still a problem with upgrading White Knight, the FreeSoft Company offers quick and helpful product support, 150 Hickory Drive, Beaver Falls, PA 15010, phone number (412)846-2700. -- Bill (johnston@oscar.ccm.udel.edu)

I couldn't get the PUP decrypter (which is on sumex) to work until I RENAMED my program back to the original name. Then it worked fine. -- Bruce G. Barnett barnett@crd.ge.com uunet!crdgw1!barnett
