MacTCP 1.0.2 ships with MacX 1.1. It has been modified to improve X-protocol throughput (MacX 1.1 is *much* faster). No other bugs have been fixed. The push bit problem and the nameserver problem appear to still be there. There are rumors that MacTCP 1.1 is in beta, and that it does address the known bugs. I have no hard evidence of this. Greetings folks: For those of you who have heard of the "MacTCP 1.0.2" software released within MacX, and are wondering if people should upgrade from MacTCP 1.0.1, which is *still the currently shipping version* of MacTCP, here is the scoop: %%%%%%%%%% MacTCP 1.0.1 and MacTCP 1.0.2 : Who gets MacTCP 1.0.2? %%%%%%%%%%%% % MacTCP 1.0.2 is a special release done for MacX 1.1 ONLY. % It ships *ONLY* within the MacX 1.1 product. Get MacX 1.1 and MacTCP 1.0.2 is in the box. You can't get MacTCP 1.0.2 from Apple otherwise. % MacTCP 1.0.2 is FULLY compatible with MacTCP 1.0.1 % Changes made in MacTCP 1.0.2 are targetted at MacX users. There are NO bug fixes. %% * MacTCP 1.0.2 DOES NOT replace MacTCP 1.0.1 in general release. MacTCP licensees now use MacTCP 1.0.1. Current practice for the MacTCP product is to *automatically* update MacTCP licensees with *significant releases*. For example, MacTCP 1.0.1 was a significant release as it fixed significant bugs in the original MacTCP 1.0; accordingly MacTCP licensees received auto-upgrades to MacTCP 1.0.1. As MacTCP 1.0.2 is a special MacX v1.1 release with no significant changes that affect general MacTCP users, it ships only within MacX. Note: % The MacTCP Developer's Kit from APDA still contains MacTCP 1.0.1 and this will not change. % and, MacTCP 1.0.2 will not be released to MacTCP licensees. SUMMARY: MacTCP 1.0.1 is all general users need. MacX v1.1 users get MacTCP 1.0.2 within MacX 1.1. Non-MacX v1.1 users should not look to switch to MacTCP 1.0.2, even though MacTCP "1.0.1" and "1.0.2" are fully compatible with one another. Thank you. P.L. Wan Apple Computer --
