[comp.sys.mac.comm] Help downloading with Zterm to Mac

horcel@kuhub.cc.ukans.edu (02/18/91)

Ok, I FTP some appl. to my acc. in the vax, I am using Zterm.85
and I can't find a way to dwnload files to my mac. Could some one help me?
I think my Zterm does not support Kermit. Do I need something else?
If so, could someone send it to me? (I can download it in my friends mac)
	Thanks in advance

The vax does not typically have inherent routines for
upload/download other than Kermit (which I think stinks). Often Kermit is
slower than even 128 byte Xmodem on our systems. Also, Zterm 0.85 does not
support Kermit at all.

I do know of a Xmodem routine that is available via anonymous FTP
from sites like Sumex-Aim@stanford.edu that is called vax-xbin. It allows
Xmodem transfers with the vax. Having used this program before, there are a
few things you should be wary of when using it, such as that your vax
should be set for 8 bits, no parity, 1 stop bit (8N1 settings).

If you cannot find this, please e-mail to me, and I will try to
send it to you.
