I'm thinking of getting a 2400 baud v.42bis modem ($175 at MacCenter, 800-950-3726), and was warned I'd need a special $25 handshake cable in order to take advantage of data compression. 1) Is this true? [the cable I use with my 1200 bd modem probably won't work?] 2) Is this cable different than what one needs with an MNP5 modem [I can borrow one of these cables from a friend and compare it to mine] 3) How's $25 for this cable? [anyone know of a cheaper modem/cable set?] Thanks, Hank Strub strub@cogsci.ucsd.edu
