[comp.sys.mac.comm] zterm / red ryder question

gjohn@Neon.Stanford.EDU (George H. John) (02/26/91)

I've noticed that both red ryder 9.2 (I _think_ that's the version
I have) and zterm 0.85 have a "vt-100 mouse" feature. While holding
down the option key, you can click the mouse anywhere on the screen
and the program will send vt-100 keypad characters to try to move the
cursor under the mouse. Problem is it never works for me. I'm
assuming that since rr and zterm seem to be trying to do this and
since it works on half-duplex when I'm not connected to my mainframe
that the problem is the way I've configured my account on the
mainframe. I'm logging into a unix machine -- is there something
I need to setup in the .login file to make the vt-100 arrow keys
understandable? They come out on the screen as "A" "B" "C" and "D"
instead of actually moving the cursor up, down, left, or right.

Thanks for any help,
George John
