[comp.sys.mac.comm] Fax Modems. What's changed since Aug '90?

Hello,
Our group is interested in buying a fax modem. The features that we would
like are transmission/reception in both data and fax modes, trans/rec in
the background, and 9600 bps in both fax-send and fax-receive. Oh, and the
best reproduction of the faxed document, of course ;-) . I've read through
the August 1990 issue of Mac World and see that a reviewer favored the
OrchidFax and the InterFax 24/96. What I would like to know is if anything
has changed since last summer? The reviewer stated that the field of fax
modems was in a state of flux at the time he was writing. Have things
settled down at all? I'd appreciate some feedback on this topic. Please
send your replies by email as our news has been lost more often than found
as of late. If I find wisdom I'll be glad to summarize. Thanks.
