Can any of you netters out there give me some information about
unet access from either the University of California@Berkeley
or the University of California@San Francisco. I have an old
friend how is working on a PhD. in Medical Anthropology. It is a
joint program offered by UCB and UCSF. She has a Macintosh and a
modem, but the modem is not being used. How does she gain access
to a mainframe (here in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada we have a
home-grown piece of Software called "MacTie" which allows
Macintosh users to access the university's mainframe from their
Macs. Is their any software which "ties" the Macs into the
mainframe?
I know it must seem strange for someone from Edmonton to be
asking these mundane questions she should be asking herself at
school, but she's busy trying to maintain her sanity right now
(she's IN graduate school, let's remember). Any info at all would
greatly appreciated.....the 2 hour phone calls are geting expensive
for us both.
Actually, I guess I am asking about e-mail access more than
unet access, but at the U of A they're integrated.
