[comp.sys.mac.comm] MAC-TCP

gonzalm@prism.cs.orst.edu (Mario Gonzales) (03/15/91)

Hello All.

I have a hopefully simple problem. I am trying to setup a Network Time
CdeV, What this little program is suppose to do is get the time over an
appleshare network and update the system clock of the machine that called it
by setting the time of that machine with the servers. Do do this it requires
that you have MAC-TCP.

I have all the documentation but in all its instructions it fails to explain
how to use MAC-TCP. This is where you come in. If any one knows how to use
this little piece of System-Software and would like to let me know than I would
be ever so greatful. In all my searchings I have only found things that explainhow TCP/IP addressing works but not on MAC-TCP . Well anyway lets give you our
configuration:

Apple-Talk/EtherTalk Network running off of 2 IBM 386 Servers. Lots of Macs anda few IBM (80 MACS / 28 IBMs).

I am posting this in a few other groups so I hope at least one person
mails me or even posts. If You decide to mail I will post a summary (Direct-
Email is the Preferred) but not essential.

Thanks For ANy of your HELP in Advance :-)

Well, the documentation that I got with MacTCP was fairly explanatory, what
problems were you having?

Also, were you aware of the cdev called "Network Time" which sounds like what
you want? It is available from SUMEX (36.44.0.6) via anonymous FTP.
