Does anyone know of a terminal emulator which works well with all of the bells and whistles of emacs? I'm used to the niceities of the X11 emacs interface, and would like to dupicate as much as possible of it at home. Here's what I'd like: - Mapping of the OPTION or other modifier key to the emacs meta-key. This works like a second, different control key on X displays with a "compose character" or "meta" key. - Additional control characters which can't be created with the emulators I've seen (such as Control-space, control-^, control-@, etc). I have no trouble making these control keys work on a vt-100 or xterm. - Mouse-controlled cursor positioning for emacs. I remember this working in "uw" some time back, so I know it is possible, though maybe kludgy. - Fast scrolling for a 19200bps connection. All emulators that I have tried have dramatically slower output when the page begins to scroll (on a color MacII screen). Perhaps I should just turn the monitor to 2-color mode when I get tired of slow scrolling. I currently use Zterm 0.85, which seems to be the fastest emulator around; however, it treats the option key strangely and is missing the above features. On a related note: Is it possible to get the OPTION or CONTROL keys to be programmable in Word 4.0?? Please respond directly to me; I will summarize if there is sufficient information. Thanks!
