Yes, you have to use Global Village's software, but you don't have to use
their -communications- software!  They give you an INIT/CDEV that you configure
in the control panel to redirect either the printer or serial port to the
TelePort.  So, no problem using most any telecommunications software.

(The only problem I've had is that I only have 1Mb ram and their init needs
over 100K to run (poor me! :-) )

Another thing that you can do is use the Communications Toolbox to connect
to the ADB modem if you have it installed on your system (and if your comm
program recognises it).
