[comp.sys.mac.comm] WK 11.10 --> 11.12 posted to sumex.

johnston@oscar.ccm.udel.edu (Bill Johnston) (04/08/91)

I sent a copy of the WK 11.10 to 11.12 updater to sumex-aim.stanford.edu,
[ IP: 36.44.0.6 ]. If you are lack ftp access, or desperately need the
new version, I'll send copies by e-mail until I need the disk space for
something else. This is a 317 K file; please think before hitting "R".

Can anybody tell what is the turn around time for stuff to be accepted and made
accessable at sumex? I've been keeping an eye on info-mac/comm since the above
appeared and so far nothing has showed up.

I am still in search of the 11.07 -> 11.08 updater. Does anyone have it?
Thanks.

Personally, I think that Sumex should keep the other updaters also for people
like me.

Try ftping to isca.uiowa.edu (if your nameserver barfs on that, try the IP
numbers 128.255.19.233) There are two WK updaters there, one called WK-1108
something and one is WK1110 something. isca maintains a mirror of the sumex
archive, but keeps older stuff sumex dumps from lack of disk space. BTW, all
the files are pre-dehqxed there, so remember to set binary mode in FTP before
you transfer.

The FreeSoft Company is pretty good about sending out updates to WK. Last
upgrade I asked for was free. This is easier than upgrading via sumex.

Not affiliated with FreeSoft, just a satisfied customer.

                            WARNING

    Upon seeing the 11.10 -> 11.12 upgarde notice, I popped
up to sumex and downloaded all 300k of the White Knight Upgrade
file. TSK TSK --> as the above comments allude, the upgrade on
sumex is the 11.08 --> 11.10 upgrade, not the 11.10 --> 11.12
upgrade. Pity...

I sent a copy of the WK 1.10 --> 11.12 updater to sumex. If past
practice is any guide, the info-mac guys will announce that they
have posted the file in the info-mac digest, making it clear that
it is the 11.10 --> 11.12 updater (the file name in the archive list
should be reasonably clear as well).

My intention was to let people know that I had submitted a copy,
in order to save people the time and effort involved in downloading
the file from Genie, converting to a binhexed StuffIt 1.5.1 archive, etc.
Sumex typically takes 10 days to 2 weeks to post - they have a queue.

As I said before, if you have no ftp access I will try to send copies
by e-mail. I have sent alot of these already. If you can wait for sumex,
I would appreciate it.
