Why do I always get the message "getsockname: invalid parameter" whenever I try to ftp outside of the local university net? I think it may be a problem with the ancient version 2.1.2 of Unix that the system is running, but I have no idea. Anyone? If you know anything about this, HELP! Mark Rosen mrosen@ruccas.rutgers.edu

Your university or the administrators of that particular machine may just be bureaucratic idiots like mine... Dipesh Navsaria (elsmed@bu-pub.bu.edu)

Yup, they're just bureaucratic idiots. Apparently the sysadmin knows about the problem, buyt just refuses to do anything about it. It has something to do with the configurationn of something or other, but I'm left with the only alternative of finding another system to get on. Mark.
