Would anyone know of a piece of software for a Mac AppleTalk network which allows Email, Bulletin Board facilities and/or conferencing facilities? I teach using Macs which at present do not have hard disks. Is it possible given the hardware limitations? Yours in gratitude and anticipation, Ray Archee, Uni of Western Sydney

PacerForum is a new product that will be available this summer that sounds like it would fit the bill. It's an AppleTalk-based application that gives Mac users the functionality of a bulletin board, but with more sophisticated options for discussions (conferencing), administration, and security. The interface is entirely graphical, using the bulletin board metaphor. It's System 6 and System 7 compatible, and the client will run on a floppy based Mac (although for best performance a hard disk should be used). The server runs in the background on a non-dedicated Mac and requires a hard disk. List price is tentatively set at $549 for 5 users. If you have more questions, send me mail and I'll be happy to answer. /Matt --- Matt Kingman Macintosh Software Engineer Pacer Software Inc. I speak only for myself...
