At the suggestion of several folkd on the net, I have been trying out the combination of ZTERM and rz/sz (obtained from sumex) for doing file transfers of large BinHex files at 9600 baud. I've compiled rz and sz on a MIPS machine running unix and have ZTERM running on my SE. I've had no problems sending files from the MIPS to the mac with the command "sz -a filename", but when I try to send large BinHex files from the mac to the unix box, using the send command of ZTERM, without giving a command to the unix shell (I believe that ZTERM is set up to do the rz automatically), the transfer invariably gets hung about a quarter of the way through. Any suggestions? Thanks, John -- John Altman * altman@picasso.mmwb.ucsf.edu Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, S-926 * University of California, San Francisco * San Francisco, CA 94143 *

Any suggestions? One suggestion is to make sure that you are connecting to the machine with a parity of 8N1. I had this problem connecting to our suns/sparcs and then doing uploads and downloads. It would let me do things fine other than file transfers, then once I would do a transfer it would do anywhere from 50-150k just fine then lock up. Good luck. Pug
