[net.railroad] Sights on the SF peninsula

BJORK@SU-SCORE.ARPA (Steven Bjork) (10/12/85)

Some sights from a ride to San Jose this afternoon...

The LAOAT (Los Angeles-Oakland Trailers) had 1 SP tunnel motor and
three Rio Grande tunnel motors.

Seen at the S.J. roundhouse was a GP40-slug-GP40 set (unusual for
the bay area). 'El Paso' was stenciled on the side of the geep.

The F40 # 916 is named 'California'. # 917 is as yet unnamed.

Track removal is proceeding at a rapid pace. The old Del Monte
cannery was torn down and what look like condos are going in.
Much of this track had dates circa 1920's on the rails...

P.S. This ride was on one of the commuter trains (of course!).
