How to enable system 6 machines to see files served by system 7.0 machines: use the system 6 installer to install AppleShare (don't just drag it over), since the installer actually modifies the system (sigh). One probably must use the "customize" option of the installer (select install "network workstation" software). Embarrassingly simple. I never used AppleTalk before system 7, and didn't realize it needed to be installed. Definitely RTFM.
