While trying out VersaTerm Pro, a friend advised me to also load the CommToolbox on my hard disk. I subsequently removed VT Pro and the CommToolbox; however, the CommToolbox startup icon remains. How can I get rid of it? There's nothing visible in the system folder nor in the Control Panel, and I can't find it with DiskTools, either. I'm stumped. __Dave -- David L. For reasons known only to Apple and your mother (you know, "trust me, this is good for you") the CTB is not a separate INIT, but gets installed in your System file proper. You can use the CTB installer disk to remove it (hold down the option key when you run the installer). You could probably get rid of it with ResEdit, too, but I don't know which resources to zap. -- Steve Dorner, U of Illinois Computing Services Office Internet: s-dorner@uiuc.edu UUCP: uunet!uiucuxc!uiuc.edu!s-dorner

Did you re-run the installer and choose "Remove" -- because if you didn't, the Comm Toolbox is still installed in your system file. Oh, to get to "Remove", you must be in custom install, with the item to remove selected, then hold the option key down. The problem is that the Comm. Toolbox gets installed into the System
file, so just removing the Communications folder doesn't get rid of it.
The installer will, however, remove the Comm. Toolbox for you. You
have to click the "Customize" button, then hold down the option key
when the next dialog appears. Note that the "Install" button turns
into a "Remove" button.

Boot up with another system disk and run the installer. Then you can deinstall it. Good luck! --------------------- Wilson Chan
