[comp.sys.mac.comm] Does Appleshare publish folders?

bmartin@uhccux.uhcc.Hawaii.Edu (Brian Martin) (06/20/91)

Does Appleshare offer the folder publishing capabilities available with
System 7.0?

We have 32 or so mac network running ethernet, split into two zones.
We've been running under Tops, and intend to stay with system 6.0.7 for quite
some time, until the software that we use is compatible with System 7.0. If we
switch to Appleshare, we'll need the folder publishing capabilities that
Tops offers. The technical support available from the local Connecting Point
and ComputerLand operations doesn't instill confidence.

Personal FileShare supports folder publishing, user and group creation, etc.
The only things that TOPS does that it doesn't is play on PCs and Suns. I
have four folders "published" on my IIfx at the moment, one with Guest read,
two with specific group read, and one with a specific group read-write. So
far as local dealers go, I'll avoid that subject.
