[comp.sys.mac.comm] Problems with NCSA Telnet

I've been experiencing some annoying problems with NCSA Telnet (latest version, whatever that is). When I try to FTP from anywhere, it gives me an attitude. It either wont let me login as anonymous or if it does, it won't let me get files. When I try to use XFerIt, everything works JUST FINE.. I would rather use NCSA Telnet, but since it won't do anything for me, I use XFerIt.
The university network is kind of testy at times, because some jerk often decides to make some modifications, and winds up bringing down at least one zone.
But I've tried using it directly from a mac, or on that mac through a better-
connected Mac file-server. I find it hard to believe that XFerIt works better,
but it does! The MacTCP 1.0.1 driver works just fine, and there are no System
(6.0.7) problems. It's just the program, unless I get a network error..
But I still don't understand why XFerIt works and NCSA Telnet doesn't.
BTW.. I can use many different versions of NCSA Telnet if I have to, so ANY
help would be appreciated.
