------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: this is being posted for someone who does not have news access, please send email responses directly to him. ------------------------------------------------------------- I've been waiting since May 10th for MacTCP 1.1 to show up on AppleLink in "June 1991" like Apple said. Well it's pretty close to the end of June and still no MacTCP. I don't need it for system 7 (I've got applications keeping me at 6.0.7) but rather because versions 1.0.1 and 1.0.2 contain a bug which causes connections to fail on ethernets where routers send RIP packets. I am on such a network and MacTCP switches connections through router A to router B whenever router B sends a RIP packet, destroying the connection. I can't turn RIP routing off. THE QUESTION Have any MacTCP wizzards figured out how to patch RIP recognition out of the driver? I figure it should be possible to NOP out some code in a dispatch table of IP packet types based on the socket, but I'm not a wizzard (only a lowely gnome) Any help would be greatly appreciated. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Bill Robertson CRC/DRL | Phone: (613) 998-2819 Fax: 990-7987 Box 11490, Station H | Internet: robertson@grumpy.dgrc.doc.ca Ottawa, ON, CANADA K2H 8S2 | Compuserve: 76476,515 -------------------------------------------------------------------
