[comp.sys.mac.games] COMING SOON

isle@eleazar.dartmouth.edu (Ken Hancock) (07/20/90)

Well folks, I've had it with copy protection. I have an SE/30
and I'm tired of things either asking me for my original disk,
typing in a password from some table in a manual, or just crashing.

SO, coming soon will be a new deprotecting program which will
apply patches to applications to disable the copy protection so that

1) You can make a backup copy. (Gee, now who would want to do that?)
2) You don't have to root around for your manual all the time.
3) You don't have to root around for your original disk.
4) Your machine won't crash on you.

Tentative features include:

1) Will read in FWB's HDUtil patches.
2) Will read in TEXT file patches
3) Will read in a proprietary patch file.

And anything else we decide to toss in.

The program will be free (or possibly send us a postcard, whatever).

This will allow patches to be posted, mailed, etc.
If you spend $40+ on a game, don't you think it should work?

If you wish to be on the beta/final distribution list,
send me e-mail with a valid return e-mail address.

Ken
