[comp.sys.mac.games] Gentle Beyond Zork Hints Sought

I'm stuck at a couple of points in Beyond Zork.  I imagine from the background
booklet that I have to turn Al the butterfly into Al the caterpillar in order 
to scare away the Christmas tree monsters.  Is this true?  How to do it?  I 
have tried everything I could think of with regards to dipping him into the
radiant pool of youth, etc.

Thanks to all who responded to my earlier question.  I have another one:
how to get past the wall of corbies?  Has this to do with the one scarecrow
who is causing them to squawk with fear?
