It was bad enough that Sky Shadow had this habit of crashing when advancing to the next zone. Bad enough that after a certain point the best strategy seemed to be to limit oneself to safe (i.e. boring) things. But it turns out that any score beyond 2,147,483,648 wedges the whole system. Yes, that's right, a score of 2^32 (or over 2 x 10^9) is achievable, or would be if the darned thing were'nt brain-dead. It doesn't take anywhere near as long as winning a game of Nethack, for instance. It does take a high tolerance for boredom -- maybe I shouldn't be admitting this. Then, because I wanted to get the score into the list, I restarted the save file and spent a couple of hours killing off my 900-odd ships one at a time, being careful not to earn too many points in the process. I actually posted 2,145,712,010 -- close enough. I can't seem to get past 3,500,000.
