I am very close to the end of the game, and have just a few things I can't figure out. I can join the thorn to the "snake" to make the staff of ages, but to do so I will need to use the invisibility scroll to get over the troll bridge the second time, and then can't get past the gargoyles. I can't figure out these things: 1) What use is the sword, other than for killing the cyclops 2) How do you "form a bridge over flaming death", which I assume means where the statue with the glowing coals is 3) how do I defeat the hell hound which guards the platinum horn 4) if I can get past the gargoyles, how do I open the door next to the well ( I can get down the well and past Charon, but can't get the skull to open. I assume I need the horn for that) Any help is greatly appreciated. If you can just give me a few hints, that is better than explaining the whole game and all the problems I have listed above. Gil -- I'm going to answer your ShadowGate questions in varying levels of "revelation". If you want the complete story, keep hitting "return"..... To get past the Gargoyles, you need to use a different scroll. The sword is useless after offing the Cyclops. "Bridge over flaming death"? -- the Demon shall sinketh. You obviously have the glasses on and know how to read the book; it's just like a scroll. I'll tell you where to use it later. You need holy water to defeat the hell hound. You don't need to open the door in the well room. You need more help? Are you sure? O.K. Use the "instantum illuminatus" scroll to get by the gargoyles, and the invisiblity scroll to get by the troll. Use the book in the room with the statue of the demon holding the coals and the doorway on the far side (the room to the right of the gargoyles). The holy water is in the alchemy lab. Look at the stone with the handle on it (to the left of the cage and the cauldron) and operate it. It will rise and give you the holy water. Need still more help? I've got a couple more hints: Remember to take the cap off the holy water (it took me a couple tries to realize it was closed). In the room past the "bridge of flaming death", cross that bridge BEFORE passing the gargoyles. You'll need something from over there. One last hint for the room past the "bridge over flaming death": Remember the markings on the stairway in the sphinx room. Hope I didn't spoil it for you! -shane d deichman
