Today's Wall Street Journal indicates that Drew Lewis, present head of Warner-Amex Cable, and former Transportation Secretary, will be leaving his present job and accepting the position of Chairman of Union Pacific. You may recall that Drew Lewis was not particularly a friend of Amtrak. I wonder if that was his personal feeling, or just that of the administration. I hope this does not bode poorly for the UP passenger fleet, the steam excursion schedule, or Amtrak service over UP lines.
