[comp.sys.mac.games] XOR's NFL Challenge

plague@milton.u.washington.edu (Jack Brown) (12/12/90)

I like this game, I just have one3 question:

My version gives the players various ratings at functions that football
players perform. For example, Curt Warner gets a 96 run, a 92 receiving, ect.
Does anybody out there know if there is a way to convert a player's stats
for a year into these % ratings? Or has the game changed so that it uses
actual stats?

Thanks,

Hi,
I like NFL Challenge very much, but over time, I've found that it's
entirely too easy to beat, even on advanced level. One way to handicap
yourself is to play with a crappy team against someone like the Bears, but
I still win 49-21 or so. And you should see the scores when I limit my
play calling to only passes and screen passes! It's a lot worse.

Anyway, it IS possible to edit team files using MacWrite, and it
should give a very detailed description in the game manual about how to go
about doing this. I've found that such changes have little effect on the
outcome of the game, despite the fact that they are aesthetically pleasing.
I lined up with a bunch of solid 99 players who could all run the 40 in 4.0
seconds, were over 7 feet tall and weighed 350+ lbs. It didn't turn out to
make much difference in the game.
