If you have a Mac SE, an Ehman 2 page monitor, and Crystal Quest, you may (should!) have noticed that there's an annoying watch cursor ticking away when you're trying to play your game. Well, believe it or not, there's a way to get around that. First, get a hold of the Cursor Animator program, which is ShareWare available from the Sumex archives. Then, use ResEdit to change one of the animated cursors to a single, non-moving dot. Boot up the computer with the Cursor-Animator CDev, choose the proper cursor, and you're set! The other problem with playing Crystal Quest on an Ehman 2-page monitor is that it noticeably slows down the speed of the game. Depending on your point of view, that may or may not be fair. A way to speed the game up to the regular SE standard is to hold down the option key when clicking the mouse to start game play. The Crystal Quest instructions say to hold down the option key for 'superfast' mode on a Mac II, but it speeds up play on a lowly SE too! John Feinberg SUNY Buffalo feinberg@acsu.buffalo.edu
