[comp.sys.mac.games] Feedback on Might & Magic II

healey@cs.ubc.ca (Christopher Healey) (12/23/90)

Does anyone have comments on Might & Magic II for the Mac. I've been
thinking about buying it, however... I purchased Might & Magic I, and
it was full bugs which caused the game to crash at various points.
I called the company, but they told me there were no plans to publish
a new release to fix the bugs.

I played both MM I and II on an IBM PC, and really enjoyed them.
Has anyone who's played MM II for the Mac encounted serious bugs,
system errors, etc. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Advance thanks.

Yes! I do! I heartily recommend M&M2. I've never played M&M1, but whatever
bugs the Mac version has, they seem to have been fixed in M&M2...I've had it
crash twice on me, and both times it was traceable to the way in which I was
allocating memory. It's a truly awesome game...and while I'm thinking of it,
I've got a few questions:

     1) Like the last time I published my list of questions...does anybody
know of a way to defeat the copy-protection "quiz" scheme? I'm a l
legit user of the game, and it's annoying to have to answer the
blinkin' quiz each time, especially when I can't find my manual...

     2) Where 'zactly are:
         a) The Druid's Cave
         b) Corak's Cave?
         c) The "time travel" area?

I Heartily agree that this is annoying. Once every six months or so
would be sufficient to insure I have a manual...

Druids point. South and a bit west of MiddleGate. You'll meet
a whole bunch of druids there, but ignore them and beat around
for a while. Look for standing stones, you can figure out the rest.

Area C3 (or whichever one MiddleGate is in, I don't have my map).
Look around, especially following the trails (i.e. the routes you'd
have to follow if you didn't have a forester). Be sure to look
all directions in a given square.

I'm guessing from the above that you're not ready for it yet anyway.
If you really want to know, ask again (or write me email).
