I'm seeking recomendations for chess games and flight simulators
that will run on the IIci using the onboard video.

The Chuck Yeager Advanced Flight Trainer (A.F.T.) works well.
It runs best if you switch back to 4-bit
(16 color) mode, so I use the Switch-A-Roo FKEY, but you can switch
from the control panel almost as easily.
