Can anyone provide a review on the game COM-BAT for the mac? It appears to be yet another ported tank combat game. How's the game? How's the mac interface? -- AppleLink: szy "Apple has no idea what I am Internet: szy@apple.COM saying here and should not be UUCP: {sun, voder, amdahl, decwrl}!apple!szy held responsible for my raving"

How's the game? How's the mac >interface? Well, I can't provide a lot of info, since the copy I rented failed to run on either my home SE/30 under 6.0.7 or on my work IIci under 6.0.5. I can tell you... The game has a manual-based CP scheme, i.e. "Please enter the third word of line 10 on page 45:" Graphics are cheesy. [on the IIci, the game did live long enough for me to note this] Units cannot be damaged by friendly fire. Terrain and buildings are indestructible. Overall, just reading the manual, I was less than overwhelmed. Then again, I haven't played it. chaz -- Someone please release me from this trance. clarson@ux.acs.umn.edu AOL:Crowbone

I agree with this and would like to add that I _have_ played the game and was considerably UNDERwhelmed by it. Luckily I played a friend's copy of the game and based on that experience chose not to waste my money on my own copy. The mac interface is pretty lousy. -- Charlie Moylan (cem@cs.brown.edu)

I wasted thirty some odd bucks on this boring, stupid, mechanical excuse for a war simulation. It kept my attention for approximately two hours and I haven't played it since. Even the sounds are bad. It's pretty boring. [Of course all the above is IMHO] good luck peace. dml
