[comp.sys.mac.games] Sim City 1.2c

cxs2341@ritvax.isc.rit.edu (SAWRAN, CX) (02/14/91)

I seem to have this problem running SimCity on my IIsi now. It used to work
fine, but now when I try to play it, the windows are all screwed up with
graphics lines all over the screen. However, when I am using multifinder, the
game works just dandy. I thought that perhaps some of the inits were messing
up the memory allocation routines. So, I took out all of my inits and cdevs,
and still no go. Then, I even booted off of my original system disk, and it
still didn't work. Seems strange that it will work in multifinder.

Thanks in advance for some advice

I had the same problem with SimCity 1.2c on my IIsi. I called Maxis
yesterday, and they said to try it in Multifinder. Like you, that
solved all the problems with the strange graphics. Evidently, SimCity
1.2c does NOT like working in Finder. Maxis knows about this, and
tells people to use Multifinder. It is not your imagination.

I ran into the same problem tonight. SimCity v. 1.2c worked OK for a
couple of days then pulled the same mischief you are talking about. I
tried all of the INIT/CDEV tricks etc., but then just turned off my
Talking Moose v. 3.0 and everything was OK. Are you using the Talking
Moose? That could be your problem. The IISI is great compared to a
MacPlus but it seems I keep chasing down one problem after another.
Soon as one things is working OK, another problem crps up. The joys of
owning a new computer!
