About The "GAMER Project"

The "Gamers Anonymous Mac Entertainment Reference" Project, aka  GAMER
Project, is a group of Mac enthusiasts from networks (Fidonet, Usenet),
commercial services (America Online, CompuServe, GEnie), and Macintosh user
groups which provide and distribute a smorgasboard of entertainment &
education publications and software compilations celebrating the "lighter
side of the Mac". Shareware authors wishing to spotlight their software in
a "GAMER Project Collection" (software compilation) or listed in the
"Shareware Game Registry" section of the "EAR Awards" may send their
work(s) to the current Project Leader, Bob Nordling. Likewise, shareware
authors who wish to have their current registration address included in the
"Shareware Authors Address Book" should also contact Bob via mail, e-mail
(America Online, Fidonet, Usenet, the New Orleans MUG Multi-line BBS), or
phone. Here is a listing of GAMER Project releases:

"EAR Awards" - 1991 series (v91.3 - March '91) (Freeware) 
Editor, Bob Nordling 
A collection of articles, reviews, lists, and surveys focusing on
entertainment, gaming, educational, and children's software for the Mac.
Contributions from many game/education enthusiasts and programmers. Updated
annually with occasional update releases throughout the year.  DOCMaker
3.55 format.

GAMER Project - Abrams Collection (7 shareware/freeware games) 
Availability - March 1991 
A collection of the complete game related works of Steve
Abrams, along with biographical information about the author. This
collection focuses on role-playing game utilities for Dungeon Masters.
Included in this collection are: CityBuilder 1.1, Dungeon Maker,
Gems/Jewelry, MakeFighter, Mapper 2.0, Needlework 2.1, Weather.

GAMER Project - Dieter Collection (3 shareware games) 
Availability - February 1991 
Size: Stuffed - 437k, Unstuffed - 605k 
A collection of the complete educational/novelty works of Mark Dieter.
These are the latest upgrades which were sent to the GAMER Project by
the author: Alpha Talk (early children's game - learn letters), Number
Talk (early children's game - learn numbers, Sage 1.5 (use as startup 
application to display quotes).

GAMER Project - Dutil Collection (10 shareware games) 
Availability - February 1991 
Size: Stuffed - 429k, Unstuffed - 579k 
A collection of the complete game related works of Marc Dutil, along 
with biographical information. All of these games have been commercially
published, and have not been widely available through shareware channels.
The Gamer Project has been given permission by the author to distribute
these games as shareware. Included in this collection are: aMaze*,
Blackwiz, Dutil's NIM, Frenzy, Jack*,Tee-Oh*, Sparkz*, Test of Minds, 
Test of Minds (color), xPect*.

GAMER Project  - Grubb Collection - Vol. 1 (4 shareware/freeware games)
Availability - March 1991 
Volume 1 (of this 2 volume set) contains the complete educational/kid's 
games of Bob Grubb, along with game descriptions and biographical
information about the author. These are the latest versions of his works
sent to the GAMER Project, most of which are upgrades not yet available
elsewhere. Grubb is the "king" of unusual "About" dialogue boxes, many of
which feature animation. Included in this collection are: 
Express Lane! 1.2, Life Sentences! 1.3, Noteables!, Surgery! 1.5
		
GAMER Project  - Grubb Collection - Vol. 2 (4 shareware/freeware games)
Availability - March 1991 
Volume 2 (of this 2 volume set) contains the complete word/simulation 
games of Bob Grubb, along with game descriptions and biographical
information about the author. These are the latest versions of his works
sent to the GAMER Project, most of which are upgrades not yet available
elsewhere. Grubb is the "king" of unusual "About" dialogue boxes, many of
which feature animation. Included in this collection are: HangMan! 1.6,
StarShipMac! 1.5, That's Your Opinion! 3.0, Word Guess! 3.2.

GAMER Project - Haun Collection (3 shareware games) 
Availability - February
1991 Size: Stuffed - 183k, Unstuffed - 273k 
A collection of the complete games of C. K. Haun. These are the latest
versions of his works sent to the GAMER Project, most of which are
upgrades not yet available elsewhere. Included in this collection are
Dropper 1.1 (arcade, b/w & 256 colors support, something like Tetris),
Flipper (puzzle, b/w), and Snake 1.1 (arcade, b/w).

GAMER Stack - (Shareware)
Stack programming by Scott Roth 
Research by Bob Nordling 
(Expected Release Date: May 1991) 
A gargantuan multi-stack/multi-disk games reference stack, including
information about 600+ shareware/freeware games.  Information about 
registering games, game support, descriptions, ratings, and compatibility 
with CPUs/System Software/Color) is provided.  Games are sorted into
categories (Adventure, Arcade, Card, etc.) and their latest known version
number included.  The games are launchable from the stack, and their icons
are included. There are plans for a stack focusing on commercial games as
well.

The following files are available from America Online, GEnie, and via
Fidonet FREQ from 1:396/13
